The Client
Rodriguez & Satterthwaite, located in Topanga, California, is an award-winning landscape design/build company with many gardens to its credit. Theirs is an environmentally conscious firm and its principals remain deeply committed to sustainable practices.
The program was to develop a serene website that would convey the beauty and naturalness of their work in gardens all over the Los Angeles area. Particularly skilled in developing hardscape solutions to frame gardens and "give them bones" the principals are involved in the project at all levels--from concept to design to actualization--and the website needed to convey this entire process.
With the help of a beautiful photography collection of the gardens accomplished--past and present--the website succeeds in portraying the depth of the firm's expertise and creativity.
The Process Section is a useful demonstration of how the company approaches a garden. By first immersing themselves into the space, listenting to the clients' desires they attempt to develop a concept for the garden that treats it like an extension of the home.
The Flash-based Garden Center allows the inclusion of new gardens as they are completed and documented. The lower tabs illustrate "Featured Gardens" that can also be updated easily as desired.
